Blending music, images, dollar-store props, vaudeville and madcap antics, performance artist Satori Circus creates a mesmerizing visual jigsaw puzzle.
Satori Circus, aka Detroit native Russell Taylor, usually takes the stage adorned in black and white clown makeup as he launches into an array of performance that he describes as “part cabaret, part burlesque and surrealism.”
“I pull from a lot of disciplines and theater genre,” he said in a telephone interview earlier this week amid rehearsing his latest ideas at 1515 Broadway in downtown Detroit. Read more..
