A longtime Detroit performance artist — no stranger to Detroit’s busy burlesque scene — Satori Circus’ 30-year career has been full-circle. This white-faced absurdist has sensual brushes with beautiful women that put him in the midst of a sex-positive scene, though the man behind the makeup says he originally intended the character to be naïve and nonsexual.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, he celebrated three decades of work by hosting a show called “Satori Circus: These are my friends.” The seated affair took place at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac. Here’s everything we saw.
