A new theater collective is looking to bring avant-garde offerings to Port Huron area audiences, and has scheduled its first two shows.
FCKTHEATRE, which is an abbreviation for “fringe, collective, kinetic,” has scheduled a showing of “Funy as Hell,” for Oct. 4, starring famed Detroit performance artist Satori Circus, also known as Russ Taylor. “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” is scheduled for Oct. 5.
Scott Dambacher, who organized the collective, said the group was formed by people in the area who had worked with one another on different productions.
“We decided it was time to start our own thing,” Dambacher said.
Dambacher described FCKTHEATRE as offering something different in a town with demand for theater.
The first show, “Funy as Hell” is based on Dante Alighieri’s poem “The Divine Comedy.” Taylor, who will be performing as Satori Circus, describes it as a “wild, crazy, surreal, tongue-in-cheek, burlesque, vaudeville” take on the literary classic.

Taylor said audience members can expect to be brought into the show itself. They might get touched, walked over or otherwise interacted with by the performers.
